General Practitioner’s (GP’s) can refer clients under the GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, if clients are eligible for psychological services under Medicare. This plan attached with a referral letter allows the client to have six sessions of psychological therapy and Medicare rebates.
If further therapy is required, the client visits their GP to obtain a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan Review which enables the client a further four sessions of therapy where Medicare provides a rebate.
Medicare allows a maximum of 10 sessions (rebates) per calendar year. GP’s can also refer clients under WorkCover or Motor Vehicle Accident.
Alternatively Adelaide Psychological Services provides a HICAPS terminal and accepts most private health insurances. Clients will need to call their private health fund to see if they are eligible for rebates.
If further information is required please call our receptionist on 8295 4150.
